Mr McCarthy started with us in March 2022. He was receiving 4 care calls a day with 2 care workers, he also had 1 hour a week social visit- He is now fully confident to be preparing his own meals, completing some of his personal care needs himself and becoming more confident day by day.
During his time with us he was able to be reduced to 1 care worker 4 times a day and keep his 1 hour a week social visit where the carers go for a walk with him, visit the garden centre, go for a drive, or have a game of dominoes at home.
Mr McCarthy has never wanted to come out of the house to socialise in big groups of people and was nervous to talk to people he had never met before.
Since we opened our well-being room with our Choir cake mornings we had invited Mr McCarthy to come and join us. He was a little reluctant but we arranged for his main care worker to collect him and bring him to the office. He was quiet at first and wasn’t sure of the new surroundings, by the end of the morning he sang a song to the whole group by himself and he was full of smiles.

He even challenged staff to a game of air hockey – and I am pleased to say he was the winner!!
We are hopeful he will continue to join us and he liked the idea of our halloween party that we are planning.
